Most people believe Mount Everest is the highest point on planet Earth, but that's because they are measuring it wrong.

Due to its rotation, the Earth bulges around the middle. That makes sea level is actually further from the center of the earth than the sea level at other latitudes.

Mount Chimborazo is actually further from the center of the Earth than is Mount Everest, and thus it's really the highest place on earth.
